Evaluating AI Translation Tools for UK Law Enforcement

Project Background:

Commissioned by the Home Office and National Police Chief’s Council, the C820 project explored the effectiveness of current AI enabled language translation tools to discover those suitable for operational and evidential use in UK law enforcement. With AI adoption increasing across policing, the focus was to understand how accurately these tools preserve meaning, sentiment, and evidential integrity.
